First Hyundai HX140 L excavator arrives in the UK
Equipment manufacturer launches new 14-tonne Stage IV-compliant hydraulic excavator
HYUNDAI have introduced a new Stage IV–compliant hydraulic excavator – the HX140 L – which is said to provide up to 10% better fuel economy and 5% increased productivity compared with previous models.
The 14-tonne machine, powered by a Perkins 1204F Stage IV engine that delivers 116hp (87kW), provides a maximum digging depth of 19ft 10in, a maximum digging reach of 28ft 10in and a bucket digging force of 24,890 pounds. The HL140 L is equipped with a standard 0.58 cubic metre capacity, 39.4in wide bucket.
As with other models in the HX series, the latest Hyundai HX140 L excavator boasts high-end features. For example, the machine features an 8in interactive, adjustable, touchscreen cluster monitor as standard. The system includes haptic remote control, providing easier operator accessibility and better ergonomics. The control unit also delivers reactive, tactile sensations using vibrations and pulses to guide the operator through menu selections.
Viewable on the monitor is Hyundai’s exclusive ‘All-Around View Monitoring’ (AAVM) – a feature that provides a 360° virtual operating view for improved safety. Included in AAVM is the Intelligent Moving Object Detection (IMOD) system that senses and warns the operator when objects come within 16.5ft of the machine.
The HX140 L excavator features a large cab with enhanced climate control, more leg/foot room from the seat to the pedals, reduced in-cab sound level and a heated operator seat with standard air suspension and integrated console. Additional features include a Bluetooth audio system and Miracast wireless functionality for viewing a mobile device screen on the monitor.
The hydraulic improvements on the machine include an innovative ‘Boom Float’ model for better grading and a ‘Fine Swing’ model for enhanced load control when swinging, and up to 13% faster cycle speeds than previous models.
The HX140 L model also features Intelligent Power Control (IPC) computer-aided power optimization and an Eco Breaker mode for selectable pump flow and improved fuel consumption when working with Hyundai hydraulic breakers and other attachments.
Enhanced reliability features on the HX series excavators include reinforced longer-life pins and bushings, coupled with wear-resistant polymer shims and newly designed cab shock mounts, providing dual shock absorption for reduced vibration/noise and improved operator comfort.
Among the serviceability enhancements are ground-level access to the fuel filter and convenient exterior access to the cab air filter. For increased safety, additional guardrails have been fitted for maintenance and inspection work on the upper structure deck.
The HX140 L will be on show on the Hyundai stand at Hillhead 2016 from 28–30 June.
