Acquisition set to further progress digitalization and data-management strategy in the field

DRILLING and blasting specialists EPC Groupe, who incorporate EPC-UK, have announced the successful acquisition of Spanish companies Vibraquipo and Vibratesting. Terms were agreed to purchase the businesses, which manufacture vibration measurement instrument solutions for quarrying, mining, and tunnelling industries, in January 2024.

EPC Groupe sat the development reflects their commitment to customer excellence and continuous innovation within the drilling and blasting industry and will also further progress the company’s digitalization and data-management strategy in the field.

Equipment manufactured by Vibraquipo and Vibratesting has been used by EPC Groupe for several years. It supports EPC’s Vertex platform in the drilling and blasting environment, a solution that combines Expertir, Expertab and Explore for users to upload, analyse, and store information, including vibration and air over-pressure, and optimize relevant blast performance.

In the UK, EPC Metrics, the value-adding, technically advanced service that is available to customers as an extension to EPC-UK’s established drilling and blasting offering, will supply and calibrate the partnership’s vibration measurement equipment.

‘We’ve developed a successful relationship with Vibraquipo and Vibratesting. Their equipment has consistently supported our engineers as they ensure blasting operations performed on site are compliant with sites’ planning limits and optimized for performance,’ explained EPC-UK’s commercial manager, Ryan Ward.

‘This exciting partnership will streamline the supply and service of those vibration measurement solutions for our UK customers, as well as internationally, and allow for the continued, seamless integration of our business systems, including the highly effective Vertex platform.’

EPC-UK’s managing director, Ben Williams, added: ‘EPC Groupe take very seriously their consistent ability to accurately examine vibration, air over-pressure, and environmental conditions on their customers’ sites. Vital too is our ability to progress the industry’s digitalized advancement so operations are safer and more efficient.

‘Our company acquisition of Vibraquipo and Vibratesting will enable us to offer a more cohesive service as we simultaneously stimulate EPC Groupe’s growth and continue to perform as a leader within our field. I’m delighted to be developing this exciting and highly enabling partnership.’

Also expressing his enthusiasm about the collaboration, Ivan del Castillo Martinez, manager and former owner of Vibraquipo and Vibratesting, said: ‘Joining forces with EPC Groupe is a momentous occasion for us. This strategic partnership will undoubtably amplify our capabilities and reach, enabling us to deliver even greater value to our customers. I am confident that our shared vision for innovation and client satisfaction will lead to remarkable achievements in the dynamic world of mining, quarrying, and tunnelling.’
