Enjoying the quiet life

As part of their environmental-management system, Bardon Aggregates have fitted Brigade Electronics’ bbs-tek reversing alarms to all of their site vehicles.

Andrew Deas, quarry manager at the Little Paxton site in Cambridgeshire, explained what led to the decision: ‘The bbs-tek is now being fitted as standard to vehicles across the company. The sound it produces is very distinct and is directed to where it should be. This means it grabs the attention of anyone behind the vehicle, which addresses the main safety issue. Our loading shovels, dumptruck and telehandlers were all previously fitted with conventional reversing alarms but residents from a neighbouring farm complained about the noise. Since making the switch to bbs-tek the farmer has actually dropped by to thank us.’
