Control and measurement of dust and RCS

New one-day training course on the control and measurement of dust and respirable crystalline silica

THE Mineral Products Qualifications Council (MPQC) has announced a new one-day course on ‘The Control and Measurement of Dust and Respirable Crystalline Silica’. Developed at the request of industry, the event will take place on 28 April 2011 in Loughborough, Leicestershire.

The course aims to ensure that the health, safety and welfare aspects associated with dust in general, and respirable crystalline silica in particular, are appreciated by persons employed as line managers, supervisors and SHE advisors, to allow them to review their own company or departmental systems for the control and measurement of dust, and to use them effectively.

Although applicable to all sites where dust may be present, the course will be of particular relevance where dusts may contain respirable crystalline silica (RCS).

During the course delegates will cover: Dust and RCS; Health effects; Exposure standards; Legal aspects; Social Dialogue Agreement (SDA) for silica; Measurement and risk assessment; Control guidance – HSE and industry best practice; Health surveillance; and Enforcement.

The course costs £295 + VAT for MPQC members and £368 + VAT for non-members. Additional places can be booked at the special offer price of £200 + VAT for members and £240 + VAT for non-members. The course can also be booked on an ‘in-company’ basis.

For further details, or to make a booking, contact Maggi at MPQC on tel: (0115) 964 4922; or email: [email protected]
