Chicago Pneumatic launch ATEX-certified impact wrench
CP6748EX wrench offers required power and ergonomics in explosive hazardous environments
CHICAGO Pneumatic have introduced their new CP6748EX impact wrench model, which is designed to provide a higher level of protection against accidental ignition of flammable gasses and dust in both above- and below-ground environments. The IP6-rated, heavy-duty wrench combines the benefits of ATEX (94/9/EC and 99/92/EC) safety with efficiency, ergonomics and advanced design.
With a maximum torque of 1,085Nm (800 foot-pounds) and 1,200 blows/min, Chicago Pneumatic say the CP6748EX will meet or exceed industrial or heavy maintenance operational needs in the mining and minerals processing industries.
The impact wrench delivers superior durability thanks to a steel clutch housing and motor components manufactured from the highest-quality plain steel. In addition, return on investment is increased by incorporating reversible end-plates and using an oil bath twin-hammer clutch mechanism which provides constant lubrication and helps reduce tool vibration.
Other key features of the CP6748EX include: an easy-to-use single-handed, glove-friendly, forward/reverse switch; power regulator; friction ring retainer for rapid socket changes; balanced grip; and progressive teasing trigger.
Compatible with Chicago Pneumatic reaction free balancers, the impact wrench also features an integrated suspension bail to reduce operator fatigue during repetitive operations.
The company has plans to expand its range of ATEX-certified wrenches in 2015 with the addition of 0.75in and 1in drives.
‘We recognize the heavy industries, including mining, as important markets and we are excited to be launching our first ATEX-certified wrench to meet the needs of customers working in these arduous environments,’ said Luis Clement, vice-president of Chicago Pneumatic Tools.
‘We have more than a century of expertise and have developed the CP67X8EX series to provide a complete range of tools to professionals.’
