Boral make strategic acquisition in Victoria
Company acquires Sand Supplies business, including two sand quarries south-east of Melbourne
BORAL Ltd have completed acquisition of Sand Supplies Pty Ltd, including two sand quarries in Victoria, about 100km south-east of Melbourne.
The strategic acquisition of the sites at Glen Forbes and Grantville will provide security of sand supply to Boral and their customers, as well as Boral’s integrated downstream concrete and asphalt operations. It will also see the continued employment of Sand Supplies’ skilled workers as they transfer to Boral.
Matt McKenzie, Boral’s executive general manager of concrete and quarries - south, said: ‘The strategic acquisition of high-quality sand quarries close to the Melbourne metropolitan area will complement our Bacchus Marsh and Sandy Creek positions in the west and supplement our Grantville joint-venture supply in the east to meet infrastructure and development needs in Victoria’s capital.
‘The quarries will play an important role in providing essential construction materials to our vertically integrated operations that are supplying the key infrastructure projects in the greater Melbourne area. The sites are high-quality and well-established with a large capacity, near a new sand-processing plant and long-term sand reserves that will provide security of supply to customers and our integrated business.
‘Sand Supplies have a proud reputation for quality and service, and we look forward to continuing that tradition as part of Boral. Importantly, we welcome the Sand Supplies’ employees, who will continue their employment as part of the Boral team.’
