Blue Machinery Scotland supply demolition company with mobile crusher

A Powerscreen Pegson XA400S mobile crushing plant has recently been supplied by distributors Blue Machinery Scotland to Tyne Tees Crushing & Screening. This is their first Powerscreen Pegson crushing plant and joins a fleet of screens and crushers producing quality recycled aggregates from their own demolition contracts, as well as forming part of the company’s modern contract crushing and screening fleet.

Tyne Tees Demolition Group specialize in demolition, site clearance, licensed asbestos removal, salvage, recycling and waste management, with Tyne Tees Crushing & Screening focussed on in-house and contract work for both recycled materials and quarried products.

The new generation XA400S mobile crusher is designed and built for primary crushing and is suitable for both recycling and quarrying applications, featuring an aggressive crushing action with hydraulic crusher setting adjustment and an optimum output of 450 tonnes/h. The high-swing jaw eases material entry into the crushing chamber and the hydraulic adjustment has been developed to allow crusher setting changes to be made quickly and easily over a wide range. The adjustment is activated without the need to release the draw-back mechanism and this system is particularly suitable for applications where regular jaw setting adjustments are required.

There are numerous features on the XA400S to improve productivity and enhance maintenance procedures. The feed hopper is constructed from 15mm heavy-duty Hardox for prolonged active life and is hydraulically folding with boltless fixing; there is a newly designed and improved crusher drive access system; an easy access power pack canopy; hydraulic and oil filter changes are only required at 2000h intervals; there is also good under-crusher accessibility for the safe and easy removal of wire or rebar with an hydraulic tilting conveyor system which features an easily removable belt for simple replacement. The strong I-beam construction of the chassis is designed and built to withstand even the most arduous of conditions and the low ground pressure crawler track is site proven for the toughest of terrains.

Driven by a 350hp Caterpillar C9 tier III ACERT engine, the XA400S is PLC controlled for optimum performance with finger-tip actuation and a simple, automatic start sequence. The HFO direct-drive system engineered into the plant gives low fuel consumption figures – as little as 22 litres/h, depending on the application. A new style of vibrating grizzly feeder, with an extended twin cartridge grizzly section, actively discourages pegging and blinding. There is an improved impact area under the product conveyor and the hydraulically elevating and lowering conveyor has an increased 3.9m discharged height for better stockpiling, which can be quickly lowered to reduce the overall height dimension of the plant when transporting.

David Gauja, Tyne Tees Demolition Group’s managing director, commented: ‘When Andrew Verity, who heads up our crushing and screening company, and I were looking to buy our next crusher, we were impressed with the Powerscreen Pegson build quality compared with other makes that we researched. We’ve also enjoyed a long and fruitful relationship with Blue Scotland’s salesman Rob Coward and, importantly, are thoroughly convinced by the reputation of their after-sales product support operation. Our new crusher is proving to be highly productive, gives an excellent and consistent end product and we’re confident that it will be a long-lasting and valuable addition to our fleet.’
