Big Brazilian contract for Metso
Finnish firm to supply fully automated crushing plant to Consórcio Construtor Belo Monte in Brazil
METSO have signed a contract with Consórcio Construtor Belo Monte (CCBM), a consortium of 10 construction companies hired by Norte Energia SA, for the supply of equipment for the construction of the Belo Monte hydroelectric power plant (UHE Belo Monte) in Brazil.
Norte Energia SA are the company responsible for the implementation, construction and operation of UHE Belo Monte project, which is located on the Xingu river, in Pará State, in the northern region of the country.
Under the terms of the contract, Metso will supply three large automated crushing plants, two portable plants and two mobile Lokotrack plants, as well as parts and services. The value of the order is approximately €30 million and delivery is scheduled to be completed in the first quarter of 2013.
Describing the contract as the biggest Metso have signed in the Brazilian construction industry in the last few years, Dionísio Covolo, Metso commercial director for Construction Equipment, said: ‘The supply of fully automated plants with the latest technology consolidates our presence in the construction of the largest hydroelectric power plants in the country.’
