Atlas Copco showcase high-performance quarrying solutions at Hillhead 2012

Atlas Copco CC6000 combi-cutter

Wide range of drilling and breaking equipment to feature on Atlas Copco’s stand

On stand T1 in the outside exhibition area at Hillhead 2012, Atlas Copco Construction & Mining will be exhibiting a wide array of high-performance, versatile and cost-effective products that have been developed specifically for operators in the international quarrying and recycling sector. Visitors to the stand will also have the opportunity to ‘try out’ Atlas Copco’s hydraulic attachments using the company’s specifically designed simulator.

Products on show include the FlexiROC D60, a multitask drill rig that is suited for large-scale production and pre-split applications in surface mining and large-scale quarry operations. The FlexiROC offers productivity and flexibility beyond conventional quarry drill rigs and can be equipped with a range of Atlas Copco down-the-hole hammers, well known for their high performance in terms of speed, reliability and longevity.

The FlexiROC T15 R is the smallest hydraulic top hammer drill rig in Atlas Copco’s surface drilling range. The drill rigs’ full radio remote control functionality is suitable for small construction jobs, rock reinforcement, boulder blasting and use in the dimensional stone industry.

Visitors to the stand will also see a wide range of Atlas Copco’s silent demolition tools, which cover the whole demolition process from breaking and crushing to downsizing, sorting and loading. This includes the 6.5-tonne CC6000 combi-cutter, which combines a high breaking force with short jaw opening and closing times, allowing very high productivity as material can be broken with fewer bites than is required by less capable tools.

Another feature on the stand will be Atlas Copco’s range of hydraulic breakers, including the recently launched HB 4100. The reduced weight and better performance of the HB 4100 means that quarry operators can now achieve improved results with a smaller hydraulic breaker, while the lightweight design allows it to be combined with a smaller excavator; facilitating a saving in investment and operating costs.

Atlas Copco will also be exhibiting for the first time in the UK their new BP3050 bulk pulverizer. With its innovative angled shape, the BP3050 is suitable for a wide range of demolition tasks and features huge jaw dimensions that facilitate energy-efficient high throughput, with speed valves shortening the opening and closing time of the jaws to ensure less fuel consumption during pulverizer operation.

As an added benefit, visitors to the stand can come and use Atlas Copco’s hydraulic breaker simulator. The simulator recreates the experience of using an excavator or backhoe, in four different application settings: a quarry, tunnel, port or town. Users also have a choice of hydraulic attachments, (combi-cutter, pulverizer, multi-grapple or a range of breakers) to provide a varied perspective.
