WCA appoints new chief executive officer
Ian Riley appointed as CEO of the World Cement Association, effective 1 September 2019
THE World Cement Association (WCA) has announced the appointment of Ian Riley as chief executive officer, effective 1 September 2019. Mr Riley has many years of international experience in Europe, America and Asia, most recently in China where he was country manager for LafargeHolcim from 2008 until earlier this year.
WCA chairman Vincent Lefebvre said: ‘We are delighted that Ian Riley has agreed to join WCA as its CEO. Ian has many years of international business experience, including the last 10 years as China country head for LafargeHolcim. He has excellent business experience and the drive to help us take WCA to the next level. I am very pleased that we have been able to attract someone with his track record and competence.’
Mr Riley succeeds WCA secretary general Norman Greig, who retired on 30 June 2019. Thanking Mr Greig for his service, WCA founder Emir Adiguzel said: ‘Norman is a highly talented, meticulous and honest professional who made the World Cement Association a real success case. We all recognize that in establishing the WCA in London, he has put his name on world cement history.’
