Waste-management firm praises JCB wheel loader

Scottish waste management company, Binn Skips have hailed the power-to-weight ratio of their new JCB 426e HT wheel loader following impressive re-handling performance since its purchase.

The Glenfarg-based firm bought the machine for use at their own recycling yard, which forms part of the Binn Eco Park development in Perth. It joins a fleet of JCB equipment operating on the site including two further wheel loaders, five tracked excavators, two Loadall telescopic handlers, an articulated dumptruck, and a generator.

The main role of the JCB 426e HT is the clearing of bays underneath a new picking station, loading recycled materials into lorries and loading screening plant. In addition to the high-specification standard features on the excavator, Binn Skips selected two additional buckets – a high-tip bucket for the loading function and a general-purpose bucket with top clamp for clearing the bays.

Iain Taylor, general manager at Binn Skips said: ‘The versatility of the JCB shovel is a big factor for us, especially in tight areas in the yard. The power-to-weight ratio is also extremely impressive and the machine has very good pushing abilities.

‘We run all JCB equipment at Binn Skips apart from a single dozer. In addition to the quality of the products, the back-up service we get from Scot JCB in Dundee is also first class. The team bends over backwards for us and ensure there is very little downtime on any machine.’

The Binn Eco Park is the first eco-innovation park of its kind in Scotland. Situated on a large, established waste-resource management facility, the focus is on the production of raw materials from waste and the remanufacturing of products from recovered materials. The site will also be a renewable energy centre that produces energy from a range of sustainable technologies including gasification, anaerobic digestion, micro-hydro and third-generation bio-fuels. The waste heat from each of these processes will provide heating to each of the businesses on the park.
