Volvo unveil C-series excavators

Volvo have launched their new C-series range of excavators, and the first models to be available are the EC160C, EC180C and EC210C. One of the key engineering features of the new excavator range is the new V-ACT (Volvo Advanced Combustion) Tier III-compliant engine, which offers high torque at low revs, resulting in ‘ultra-efficient fuel consumption’, claim Volvo.

The engines are also said to be impossible to stall, thanks to an on-board computer that balances maximum available power to hydraulic output, preventing the engine from becoming overloaded during engine speed or pump demand.

The C-series excavators have been designed with health and safety in mind. The enhanced suspension system helps reduce operator fatigue and body vibration. All steps and platforms feature punched steel plates for superior grip. In-cab noise is also reduced due to the low-revving engine, relocation of the cooling system and pressurized insulated cab design. The new windshield wiper cleans a wider area, including both upper corners, while an optional rear camera provides a safer view when the machine is operating.

The C-series comes with a range of options, including a CareTrack GPS monitoring device that allows users, from their computers, to track excavator location, fuel usage, hours of operation and set machine usage limits.
