Volvo secure major plant agreement with RMC
VOLVO Construction Equipment have secured a two-year deal, worth in the region of £10 million, with RMC Aggregates (UK) Ltd. Under the terms of the agreement, RMC will purchase a significant share of their mobile plant requirements from Volvo until 2005.
The machines will be supplied countrywide to RMC’s network of hard rock quarries, sand and gravel pits, concrete products facilities and ready-mixed concrete, cement and asphalt plants.
Volvo products already selected to meet RMC’s 2003 requirements include nine articulated dumptrucks, ranging from A25D to A35D models, and 33 wheel loaders ranging from the L50D (1.5m3 capacity) to the L180E (4.2m3 capacity), the majority being made up of L120E and L150E machines for re-handling and stocking-out purposes.
Commenting on the deal, Volvo Construction Equipment’s managing director, Bob Watterson, said Volvo were delighted to be able to build upon and develop the relationship with one of their strategic partners in the aggregates industry.
‘The resulting agreement gives both companies the benefits and cost savings which have developed from a proactive and forward-looking approach,’ he said. ‘We have no doubt that this can be rolled out further and we are working closely together to extend this to Europe and beyond.’
