Volvo introduce C-Series skid-steers into Europe
Expanded skid-steer loader line-up offered to customers in Europe for the first time
VOLVO Construction Equipment are introducing four wheeled models and three tracked versions from their C-Series skid-steer loader range to customers in Europe.
The four wheeled models – the MC60C, MC70C, MC95C and MC115C – have rated operating capacities from 610kg to 1,180kg and offer gross engine power from 36kW (48hp) to 55kW (74hp), while the three tracked models – the MCT85C, MCT125C and MCT145C – have rated operating capacities from 860kg to 1,450kg and offer gross engine power from 49kW (55hp) to 69kW (92hp).
Featuring a single loader arm design without the horizontal cross member found on two-arm vertical-lift machines, the C-Series machines offer operators excellent all-around visibility and enhanced cab access. The cab also features a large top window for improved visibility during truck loading.
Operators enter and exit the cab through a large, wide-opening side cab door which eliminates the need to climb on to and over the bucket or attachment. On both the wheeled and tracked machines, a non-slip step increases safe entry and exit of the cab. Side entry also eliminates the uncomfortable body turn required of operators in order to sit down in traditional skid-steer loader cab designs.
Inside the Volvo ROPS/FOPS cab, the operator’s environment has been redesigned for increased space, comfort and ease of use. All controls and gauges are ergonomically placed and, unlike old-format machines, the new Volvo cab is sealed and pressurized to keep dust out and noise levels down.
More importantly, in an emergency exit situation, the C-Series machines are much easier to get out of than traditional format skid-steers, as egress is achieved through the large front window rather than through the much smaller rear window.
The left-hand machine control pod easily hinges rearward with the assistance of a single gas strut, allowing for easy machine entry and exit. The right control pod features a wrap-around seat bar designed to comfortably fit operators of all sizes, and acts as a rest for the operator’s right arm.
Another feature of the new Volvo C-Series is improved service access through a forward-tilting cab and large rear compartment service door. In addition, the side access/egress of the cab makes it possible for the operator to safely exit the machine without walking under the load, walk around the rear of the machine and then safely engage the loader arm support without the aid of a second person.
