Volvo CE open new SDLG excavator factory in Brazil
SDLG-branded machines to be produced at new dedicated facility in Sao Paulo
VOLVO CE have opened a new $10 million purpose-built assembly hall at their existing factory in Pederneiras, Sao Paulo, for the production of excavators from subsidiary Shandong Lingong Construction Machinery Co., Ltd.
The company will begin manufacturing four SDLG-branded crawler excavator models – the LG6150E, LG6210E, LG6225E and LG6250E – covering weight classes from 13.8 tonnes to 24.3 tonnes.
The new factory is the first SDLG production facility built outside China but will have the same manufacturing processes as the main plant in Linyi, Mainland China.
SDLG machines have been sold in Brazil for more than four years and during that time the subsidiary has established itself as one of the leading suppliers of construction equipment at the value end of the market.
The production of SDLG excavators in Brazil will increase the brand’s competitiveness in the country by speeding up delivery times and opening up more favourable financing options for customers. SDLG will continue to operate in Brazil through their own branded organization and dedicated distribution network and sales force with customer support.
‘Localized production will help SDLG be more flexible and responsive to its customers and dealers in the region,’ said Pat Olney, president and CEO of Volvo CE. ‘We’re taking advantage of the Volvo Group’s long history in Brazil to introduce an exciting new initiative with these locally built SDLG excavators.’
