Paul Brown to lead the company’s Scottish recycling and resources division

VIRIDOR, one of the UK’s leading recycling and waste-management companies, have appointed Paul Brown as their new Scottish regional managing director. Moving from a senior role at Scottish Power Energy Networks, Mr Brown will head Viridor’s Scottish recycling and resources division which is investing around £500 million in the country.

He will also play a key role in the development of the business and help put the Scottish government’s zero waste policy into practice. Mr Brown brings over 25 years’ experience in infrastructure and energy to the position, having worked in a variety of roles in the UK and the US across a number of sectors.

Prior to joining Viridor, Mr Brown was the network connections director for Scottish Power Energy Networks, where he was responsible for securing more than £200 million of annual investments. He drove the improvement of customer service, and commercial and regulatory performance of the 2,700-strong company which has bases in Scotland, England and Wales.

Commenting on his recent appointment, Mr Brown said: ‘This is an exciting time to be joining Viridor at the forefront of creating a more resource-efficient and sustainable UK, and I’m delighted to be leading efforts to realize Viridor’s vision for Scotland.  By working with the team, clients, Scottish government and local communities, we will do our best to ensure a greener and more circular economy for the country.’

Ian McAuley, chief executive of Viridor, added: ‘We’re delighted to welcome Paul [Brown] to our team. This is a critical time for resources and renewable energy policy in Scotland, including the delivery of our Scottish infrastructure projects. Paul brings a wealth of experience from within Scotland and overseas and will make a real contribution to our business.’

Former regional managing director, Colin Paterson, will continue to provide strategic leadership and the management and development of high-level business relationships in Scotland.
