Viridor appoint new business development director
Chris Jonas to focus on increasing energy efficiency and recyclate quality within the group
VIRIDOR, one of the UK’s largest recycling and renewable energy operators, have announced the appointment of Chris Jonas as director of business development. He will be responsible for research/analysis, strategic planning, mergers and acquisitions (M&A) projects, and public sector development across the company’s core recycling, resources and distributed energy divisions.
Mr Jonas, who joined Viridor in 2003, will also spearhead business research interests, focusing on increasing energy generation and improving recyclate quality, and will chair the company’s newly formed Technology and Innovation Steering Group.
Paul Ringham, commercial director for Viridor, said: ‘We’re delighted to appoint Chris to this new role. With an impressive track record as head of strategic development at Viridor and over 18 years’ experience in the sector, Chris was the outstanding candidate for this senior leadership role. We’re confident that he can contribute strongly to driving the company forward.’
Mr. Jonas has served in a number of senior roles for the business, including as head of strategic development since 2010. During this time, he successfully secured a number of major public-private partnerships for the company and led a series of strategic M&A projects.
He also served as Viridor’s regional manager for the South West, responsible for the development, profitability, safety and operations of the area’s collection fleet and associated transfer station infrastructure. Mr Jonas will continue to represent the business on a series of UK national and regional policy and stakeholder forums.
