Third Kramer loader for Somerset-based aggregates company
A J Champion take delivery of 680T wheel loader
A.J. Champion & Sons, a Somerset-based aggregates supply company, have taken delivery of one of Kramer’s latest 680T wheel loaders, their third machine from the German manufacturer.
The company operate from a ¾-acre site at Chilcompton and supply a wide variety of products including sand, ballast, hardcore and decorative gravel, mostly to local builders, merchants and homeowners at a current total rate of some 700 tonnes every week.
Having experienced excellent performance and reliability from their two previous Kramer loaders, Champion had no hesitation in ordering the new 680T from the local dealers, Roy Francis Plant Sales of Melksham.
Steve Champion commented: ‘We really like the four-wheel steer system which enables the machine to accurately manoeuvre around our busy yard. In fact, its steering lock is almost like a London taxi!’
The 680T has been equipped with a smaller than standard 1.6m wide bucket, which best suits the needs of the customer because, combined with the unit’s telescopic boom, the machine can not only fill the high-level hoppers of the company’s bagging plant but also place split loads onto delivery vehicles across their tailgates.
