Tentec launches new range of hydraulic torque wrenches

Tentec, global suppliers of bolt tensioning equipment, have launched a new series of hydraulic and pneumatic torque wrenches to complement their existing range of bolt tightening solutions.

Three new torque wrench ranges have been introduced - the SD, CD and PN series - each developed for engineers who require robust, easy to use and accurate tools for the vast range of torque applications throughout the industry.

The SD series comprises square drive conventional hydraulic torque wrenches. With torque output ranging from 1722Nm (1270ft lbs) to 78,625Nm (58,0000ft lbs), the one-piece body housing also offers rigidity, strength and robustness in a surprisingly lightweight form.

Not only is the SD series a strong workhorse of a wrench, it also offers refined features that ensure engineers have a tool that is convenient and easy to use. Among the many features are full 360 degree x 360 degree swivel connections and a pressure/torque chart that is laser etched onto the nose of the tool.

For awkward restricted bolts, the low-profile, direct-drive CD series of hydraulic torque wrenches has been developed. Design engineers have achieved the ultra-slim profile of the ‘same width’ cassette and cylinder assembly by incorporating a non-circular drive piston.

The CD series interchangeable cassettes allow for a rapid and easy swap out from one hex size to another. The cassette is attached to the cylinder by means of a single high-strength locking pin, removing the need for special tools. The use of interchangeable cassettes makes the CD series a versatile wrench, with one cylinder being able to torque many different sized hexagon nuts. Both cylinder and cassette are manufactured from high-grade, high-strength aircraft alloy giving the CD series unparalleled reliability.

The PN series provides continuous and repeatable torque with an accuracy of +/- 5%. Unlike previous pneumatic torque wrenches, the PN series provides the fastest speed when it counts, ie during the actual torque stage and not during the free nut run-down stage.

Common in all PN series wrenches is a new gear technology that creates greater durability, lower operational temperatures and increased efficiency. The PN series offer a torque output from 162Nm (120ft lbs) to 8,134Nm (6,000ft lbs) and
rotational speeds of up to 45 rev/min.

Tentec offer suitable and compatible electric- and air-driven pump units to power the new torque ranges along with a free bolt tightening software package that integrates with both their Torque and Tension products.
