Technical apprenticeship success for Cemex

Cemex celebrate the growth and success of their UK Technical Apprenticeship Programme

Following the initial programme launch in May 2022, four apprentices have enrolled. The first apprentice to join the scheme has successfully completed Level 3 and is starting a new Cemex apprenticeship degree course. Cemex say they are delighted to welcome new starters Callum Voss, who joins Alex Dale on the Cemex degree course, and Fletcher Gould, who joins Level 3, along with Cameron Davies who is already 12 months into the programme.

Cemex’s Technical Apprenticeship Programme is aimed at developing future talent within the technical department and the wider organization. As well as plenty of hands-on experience offered by Cemex’s specialist team of technical experts, the trainees also benefit from formal tuition.

The Cemex Technical Degree Apprenticeship is a four-year-long, Level 6 programme which allows the apprentices to undertake modules focused on core topics such as health and safety and sustainability, as well as multiple topics surrounding materials science and technology. At the end of the programme the apprentices will have achieved a degree (BSc) in Construction Materials Science & Technology.

Cemex apprentice Alex Dale, who is now enrolled on the Cemex degree course, said: ‘The Level 3 programme has been the best way to blend real-life skills, career progression, and academic studies. Cemex have given me the chance to be part of huge infrastructure projects and fascinating developments such as high-performance concrete and 3D printed concrete, all whilst supporting my learning and development with apprenticeship partners TIRO.

‘I have learned to become a well-rounded laboratory technician and been given the confidence to put my skills to use. Cemex and TIRO have helped me to achieve academic knowledge, along with the confidence to put it to use in the working world.’
