Tarmac support employee on road to success
Company demonstrates commitment to continuous professional development of its employees
RICHARD Denman Jr, an operative in Tarmac’s Contracting business, has become the first Tarmac employee to achieve the Minerals Products Qualifications Council (MPQC) Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Construction Operations and Civil Engineering Services (Roadbuilding and Construction).
Mr Denman was supported in achieving his qualification by Tarmac’s in-house assessor, Chris Hill, demonstrating the company’s commitment to the continuous professional development of its employees.
The diploma will not only allow Mr Denman to apply for a Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card, which will reflect his efforts by outlining his new roles and responsibilities, but will also help pave the way for other Tarmac employees who are set to complete the qualification.
The company currently has another six operatives registered and studying to follow in Mr Denman’s footsteps.
Tarmac, who have worked with MPQC to deliver NVQs in house and ensure that assessments are independent and consistent, and aligned with the company’s standards of working, say the qualification will help assure customers and clients by demonstrating that employees with this diploma are competent to operate mobile plant and understand the importance of safe working practices.
