Tarmac launch CPD app partnership with MPQC

MPQC CPD app for Tarmac

Company introduces software app to support employees’ continuing professional development

TARMAC have launched a new software application in partnership with the Mineral Products Qualifications Council (MPQC) to allow employees to showcase their knowledge and maintain an accurate record of their continuing professional development (CPD).

Launched during national Learning at Work Week (14–20 May), the innovative app has been designed to help employees easily record all types of learning activities, from statutory courses and face-to-face training to informal coaching and online learning. The app will be rolled out to all 7,000 of the company’s employees, starting this week.

Tarmac say the CPD App is part of the company’s ongoing approach to supporting employee development through the application of learning, which includes encouraging colleagues to study for professional qualifications, participate in employee development schemes and learn from work-based activities.

Matt Gibbs, senior manager for operational competence in Tarmac’s HR team, said: ‘Our new CPD application, in association with the MPQC, will help us to support our long-term commitment to developing and supporting our talented and highly skilled workforce.

‘It’s essential that we help our employees to enhance their transferable skills and develop through professional and technical training, and there are numerous initiatives across our business which are designed to do this. The app will ensure all of these are fully recorded and allow our people to track and request any other professional support they need.’

Tarmac’s Learning and Development team worked closely with the MPQC to refine its existing app and its features to ensure that it was able to fully meet the company’s bespoke requirements. The company’s employees can also use the app as a tool to reflect on any type of learning experience, manage their CPD programme, share key learnings and upload and save any content relevant to them.

Suitable for members of staff at all levels of the organization, the software allows users to easily communicate with colleagues and share their personal CPD experiences. Tarmac have a long-standing relationship with the MPQC, which provides training programmes, professional qualifications and is also the Standard Setting Organization for the quarrying industry.
