Stockpiling conveyor proves cost effective for Cemex quarry

A contract crushing operator who recently invested in a Trackstack 8042T stockpiling conveyor has said that the tracked unit has already proven its cost saving potential in a matter of weeks.

The new conveyor has allowed the operator to eliminate the need for a second wheel loader at one of their crushing operations. Previously they were having to use one wheel loader to remove crusher run from under the primary jaw and feed it into a secondary crushing and screening plant, whilst having to load lorries at the same time.

With this setup unable to cope, the two options facing the company were using another wheel loader to work a limited amount of time, but requiring an operator all day, or an unmanned tracked conveyor. After speaking with Trackstack the sales proposition was made very clear and it was felt the new Trackstack 8042T was the better option.

The monthly capital expenditure for the 8042T conveyor (including diesel) equates to approximately a third of the overall operational costs for the wheel loader and operator.

The 8042T tracked conveyor, which was launched at the Hillhead show in Buxton last June, has the largest stockpiling capacity in its class. Due to its tail lift design the unit can stockpile to a height of 11.33m, equating to a stockpile capacity of 3,500 tonnes.
