Rating reflects commitment to sustainability, responsible business practices, and continuous improvement

SIBELCO have been awarded a Silver Sustainability rating from EcoVadis, reflecting the company’s commitment to sustainability, responsible business practices, and continuous improvement, and placing them among the top 13% of companies in the ‘Quarrying of stone, sand & clay’ category.

EcoVadis, a globally recognized third-party sustainability rating platform, assesses companies across Environment, Labour & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement. Sibelco’s 2024 score of 67/100 marks a seven-point improvement from their previous assessment and represents an important step forward in the company’s sustainability journey.

Key areas of progress include:

  • Environment: Improved environmental practices and stronger sustainability initiatives helped drive Sibelco’s highest gains

  • Labour & Human Rights: Sibelco enhanced workplace conditions, safety measures, and human rights policies

  • Ethics: While maintaining a strong ethics score, Sibelco remain committed to transparency and integrity in business.

This year’s EcoVadis evaluation introduced more stringent grading and an expanded set of questions. To meet these new standards, the company revised and strengthened many of its policies and procedures, demonstrating its ability to adapt and improve.

‘Our focus remains on advancing sustainability efforts in both the short and long term,’ said Cathy Blervacq, Sibelco’s vice-president of sustainability. ‘We will continue refining our policies and working with our suppliers and customers to enhance sustainability across our value chain.’

An exciting opportunity ahead is the leveraging EcoVadis insights to better understand Scope 3 emissions, helping Sibelco to work towards more sustainable production and distribution.

‘Achieving a Silver medal reinforces our progress and dedication to ESG principles. With a clear path forward, we are excited to continue this journey and achieve even greater sustainability milestones,’ said sustainability manager Wies Vanstockem.

‘At Sibelco, sustainability is at the core of everything we do, and we remain committed to creating a positive impact on our business, the planet, and society.’
