Scania vehicles in demand

Scania tippers

West Country-based Bristol & Avon Transport & Recycling Ltd have made a major investment in 14 new Scania tippers to take the company forward over the coming years. Supplied by Scania’s Avonmouth depot, the trucks provide a full waste and recycled material delivery service to the region’s construction industry.

Equipped with lightweight Charlton Quarrymaster bodies, the 32-tonne gvw, 400hp trucks are all based on Scania’s P 400 CB8x4MHZ eight-wheel chassis.

‘Our work involves both on- and off-road operations that are extremely arduous and certainly place heavy demands on trucks,’ commented Kevin Berkely, managing director of Bristrol & Avon T&R. ‘But as a long-established Scania operator we know we can depend upon our new fleet to provide a reliable and cost-effective service.’

Elsewhere, Kent-based recycling specialists TW Services Ltd have added a further five Scania vehicles to their fleet. Supplied by the company’s Purfleet branch, the order comprises two skiploaders, two hookloaders and a tipper with grab.

The skiploaders both feature 18-tonne gvw Scania P 230 DB4x2HMZ chassis with day cabs and Multilift skiploader equipment, while the hookloaders and tippers are plated at 32 tonnes gvw and based on the Scania P 400 CB8x4MHZ with day cabs.

Multilift have supplied the hookloader equipment; Thompsons the tipper body; and Epsilon the tipper’s grab.

‘Reliability and low running costs are the two primary reasons behind our decision to once again purchase Scania,’ said Spencer Ray, managing director of TW Services ‘Local service cover is important too, as we provide a Kent-wide service to a range of industrial, commercial and domestic customers, meeting their waste management and recycling needs in a dependable and timely manner.’
