Safety equipment first for J Mould
Demolition contractor fits OilQuick automatic quick-coupler system to its new fleet of excavators
EARLIER this year Reading-based J Mould decided the time was right to begin a programme of converting their newer excavators to the OilQuick automatic quick-coupler system supplied by Warrington-based attachment specialists ECY Haulmark.
According to Duncan Rudall, J Mould’s head of health and safety, and demolition manager, it would be advantageous to the company to invest in the OilQuick system, having seen first-hand a number of other high-profile demolition contractors converting to the units in recent years.
OilQuick permits hydraulic work tools to be connected and disconnected directly from the driver’s cab. This, importantly, allows the operator to rapidly change among various attachments, increasing productivity and profitability.
The quick-coupler systems are regarded as one of the safest on the market; while work tools are changed and coupled automatically, the operator does not have to get down from the cab. This means no more handling of couplings covered in oil or leaving the cab with unnecessary exposure to risks.
J Mould’s fleet of Hitachi Zaxis 210LC excavators have been specified with the OilQuick OQ70/55 system allowing a range of attachments to be changed automatically, including a VTN MT20 multi-processor and Dynaset Hmag900 hydraulic magnet. Meanwhile, the company’s fleet of Hitachi 350LC excavator models has been fitted with the OilQuick OQ70/55 spec quick-couplers for its demolition operations.
J Mould say they have been delighted with their investment in the OilQuick automatic quick-couplers; utilizing these quick-hitch systems have led to more efficiency and productivity on both their demolition and recycling sites.
Other satisfied customers using the OilQuick system include Manchester-based Northbank Demolition and their sister company PR Plant, having recently installed a further 12 units to their Caterpillar and Doosan demolition-spec excavators.
