RWM 2019

RWM show

Two-day showcase exhibition for the recycling and waste-management sector opens its doors next month

TAKING place at the NEC, Birmingham, from 11–12 September, RWM 2019 is the UK’s premier event for resource efficiency and waste-management solutions. The annual show – run in partnership with the Chartered Institute of Wastes Management (CIWM) – attracts 500 exhibitors and in excess of 12,000 recycling and resource-management professionals from around the world.

This year’s event will see a plethora of new features added to the show, including an expanded outdoor demo area, which will give visitors an opportunity to witness and experience the capabilities of some the machinery and vehicles on display in the exhibiting halls.

As with previous events, RWM 2019 will provide a showcase platform for companies highlighting the latest technological innovations and a wide range of environmentally sound and cost-effective solutions.

The new Waste-Tech area, for example, marks a dedicated area for attendees to go and seek out the most cutting edge in AI and robotic technology for the waste-recycling industry, enquiring not only about how it all works, but also how it can benefit aspects of business such as productivity, safety and accuracy.

Familiar key zones including: Energy from Waste; Handling & Logistics; Machinery & Equipment; Recyclers & Reprocessers; and Data Tech & Services – will all be making a return to the exhibition floorspace to help make navigation simple, efficient and visitor-friendly.

There will also be a huge programme of seminars taking place at several theatres, with some of the industry’s biggest and most influential figures discussing major topics directly affecting the waste and recycling sector.

The daily seminars will run alongside a series of live panel debates – all designed to cover a variety of issues and themes and to deliver an informative programme of interactive presentations that will be an invaluable source of knowledge for all who work in the sector.

Some of the high-calibre speakers confirmed at the event will include: David Palmer-Jones, CEO of Suez; Phil Piddington, managing director of Viridor; Jeremy Paxman, a well-known British broadcaster and journalist; Dr Paula Carey, founding director of Carbon8 Systems; and Jacqueline O’Donovan, managing director of O’Donovan Waste Disposal.

Event organizers PRYSM say this year’s RWM will be running, for the first time, alongside the company’s entire Envirotex portfolio, making it ‘the most comprehensive environmental event the UK has ever seen’, with an estimated 22,000 visitors expected to attend the five co-located shows.
