Rock Fall introduce metatarsal protective footwear
Rock Fall (UK) Ltd have launched an innovative range of high-quality protective footwear designed for use in the quarry, mineral processing and extractive industries.
Manufactured under the company’s Tomcat brand, the product has been designed as an alternative to the often heavy, uncomfortable and expensive boots currently available on the market.
Developed through extensive research and testing, the boots use full-grain leather and Rock Fall’s ‘Activ-step’ footbed for superior comfort. With rubber outsoles constructed for durability and to withstand heat up to 300°C, the Tomcat footwear is made for the toughest conditions.
The main design feature of the safety boots is the integral metatarsal protector – a lightweight, flexible inner plate that protects the wearer’s fragile metatarsal bones from impact. The boots also shield the user’s toes and sole with a metal toecap and steel midsole. The footwear is said to be the first in the world to incorporate internal metatarsal protection and surpasses the EN ISO 20345:2004/A1 2007 European Safety standards.
Stephen Noon, managing director of Rock Fall and inventor of the boot, commented: ‘For many years now, we have protected part of a wearer’s foot. We believe that the industry should look to protect the whole foot and make the end-user as comfortable as possible while carrying out their work.’
