ITN Business and MPA collaborate to launch compelling, high-quality news-style digital programme

ITN Business, renowned for its high-quality broadcast content and storytelling, has partnered with the Mineral Products Association (MPA) to produce a compelling news-style digital programme, ‘Responsible, Sustainable, Essential Minerals’, spotlighting the mineral products industry’s vital role in building a sustainable future.

Hosted by TV journalist Sharon Thomas and produced by Saffa Amer, the programme launched on 4 December 2024 and features thought leadership, expert commentary, exclusive interviews, and real-world case studies, highlighting the positive impact of essential resources and the sector’s positive contributions to sustainability and innovation.

ITN Business interviewed Dr Diana Casey, executive director of energy and climate change at the Minerals Products Association where she discussed how the MPA collaborates with its members to support the UK’s sustainability goals.

The programme also features short reporter-led case study films from Malcolm Group, showing how they prioritize sustainability through their operations and initiatives and CDE, empowering aggregates processors to turn excavation waste into valuable resources and maximise material recovery from virgin sources.

Dr Casey said: ‘Mineral products form the foundation of our world. As the voice of mineral product producers, we have built roadmaps setting out how we can decarbonize and support the transition to net zero for the whole economy. We showcase the great work our industry does to enhance nature and contribute to the economy, and we make the case to government for the right policies to enable us to attract investment to the UK to support thousands of well-paid jobs in communities all across the country”

Nina Harrison-Bell, head of ITN Business, said: ‘We were delighted to collaborate with MPA. This programme represents a unique opportunity to not only inform but inspire viewers with stories that truly matter about the essential role of mineral products.’

‘Responsible, Sustainable, Essential Minerals’ is hosted on the ITN Business Hub and features interviews and sponsored editorial profiles. To view the programme, click here.
