Productivity and precision by the bucket load

Rototilt Positioning System

Optimized combination from Rototilt and Topcon provides excavator operators with full attachment control

WITH the Rototilt Positioning Solution (RPS) and Topcon’s excavation system, an excavator operator can now have complete control of the bucket, including when using a tiltrotator. The solution links the angle and the rotation of the bucket under the Rototilt to the excavation system.

‘We are now increasing the options with RPS, which enables us to connect to Topcon’s excavation system,’ explained Per Väppling, sales and marketing manager at Rototilt Group AB. ‘In this way, the operator is able to integrate Rototilt with his Topcon excavation system to achieve significantly better precision and productivity than before.’

Together with the excavation system, RPS lets the operator know the attachment’s precise position in relation to the excavation in progress. This makes for an effective tool in all kinds of construction jobs such as precision grading, excavation in confined areas or moving large volumes of earth.

‘With RPS, the operator has precise control over the attachment when using our Rototilt tiltrotator – the operator can achieve both height and rotation line, which is an entirely new market development,’ said Mr Väppling. ‘Previously, the operator could only see a straight bucket, regardless of how it was positioned.’

In addition to full control of the attachment’s tilt and rotation angles and its precise position, RPS means fuel savings, time savings and less bucket wear, while also making work significantly easier for the operator.

The positioning system works regardless of the excavator’s site location to measure lines and height. Contractors can work considerably more efficiently with RPS linked to their excavation system.

‘The integration of rotation sensors makes our excavation systems complete. We are able to achieve even greater efficiency and accuracy when the bucket is at the correct height and tilt, irrespective of the rotation angle,’ said Andreas Lundbäck, manager of OEM development with Topcon.

‘This is something that the market has been demanding for a long time, and we are delighted that we are now able to deliver this along with Rototilt.’

Equipment requirements: Excavation system – Topcon 2D or 3D system (X32, X33, X63i with requirement for SLR-4 modem in all cases); Tiltrotator – Rototilt model R4, R6, R8 (or Advance Line), ICS control system with auto calibration and/or SecureLock.
