NSSGA appoints new chairman
Memphis Stone and Gravel president Hal Williford to chair national association’s board of directors
HAL Williford, president and chief executive officer of Memphis Stone and Gravel Company, has been appointed as chairman of the National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association’s board of directors and will hold the position until NSSGA’s next Annual Convention.
‘Three years ago NSSGA asked the members what was important to them and out of that came the Rocks Build America strategic plan. It has helped to guide this association well since 2014, and my goal this year is to continue that progress,’ said Mr Williford. ‘I am eager to look for ways to improve every aspect of NSSGA to better serve our industry.’
In the coming year, Mr Williford would also like to see a focus on growing NSSGA membership among small and medium-sized producers. Not only are these companies vital to grass-roots advocacy efforts, he said, but they comprise the bulk of our industry and should have a say in the direction of this industry.
Congratulating Mr Williford on becoming chair, NSSGA president and chief executive officer Michael W. Johnson said: ‘Hal has been a true leader of the aggregates industry and really understands the needs of our members, large and small.’
Saluting the accomplishments of immediate past-chair Charles S. Luck IV, Mr Johnson said: ‘It has been a pleasure to work with Charlie, who brought valued-based leadership to our association. A multi-year highway funding bill became law, and our Annual Convention and AGG1 Academy & Expo broke attendance records. We are excited to build on those successes in the year ahead with Hal at the helm.’
