Nigel Jackson appointed chief executive of MPA
NIGEL Jackson has been appointed as chief executive of the Mineral Products Association (MPA) with immediate effect. Mr Jackson, who was previously executive director of the QPA, has worked in the construction, minerals and waste industries for more than 34 years.
According to the Association, the decision to appoint Mr Jackson was reached unanimously by the MPA board following a lengthy selection process.
Commenting on his appointment, Mr Jackson said it was a privilege to have been appointed to the new role and that he was looking forward to working even more intensively with the Association’s staff, its growing membership, affiliates and other key organizations going forward.
‘My aim is to build on our achievements to date and establish the MPA not only as the principal voice of the mineral products industry, but as a major influence on government and others,’ he commented. ‘This is particularly important when considering the future use of our essential materials, which provide sustainable solutions for both our natural and built environment.
‘This is a great industry, which forms part of the backbone of the economy and our way of life, but which continues to receive too little recognition and proper consideration. My mission is to change that.’
Congratulating Mr Jackson on his appointment, MPA chairman Lynda Chase-Gardener said: ‘We are all delighted that Nigel has accepted this important and challenging role. He combines continuity and a thorough understanding of the industry with strength of vision and a total commitment to steering our new Association and the industry forward.’
