New Volvo FM trucks for James Booth (Bolton) Ltd
Lancashire-based haulage firm strengthens fleet with five FM-450 6x2 tractor units
JAMES Booth (Bolton) have taken delivery of five new Volvo FM-450 6x2 tippers from local suppliers Thomas Hardie Commercial, in Manchester. According to Ian Baxendale, general manager of the bulk haulage specialists, James Booth (Bolton) are now operating 19 Volvo trucks out of a total fleet of 21 vehicles.
Equipped with a lightweight mid-lift axle and a Globetrotter cab, the new Volvo FM tractor unit is powered by an 11-litre D11K engine (450hp) that produces up to 2,150Nm of torque (between 1,000 and 1,400 rev/min).
The FM truck also comes with a hydraulic ‘wet kit’ supplied and fitted by Thomas Hardie Vehicle Solutions, based in Chorley. The FM-450 units are covered by Volvo Gold repair and maintenance contracts. Annual mileage covered per truck is in the region of 71,500 miles (115,000km).
James Booth (Bolton) have been operating Volvo trucks for around 15 years, transporting a variety of construction materials for their customers. The family-owned business is primarily focused on the M6 and M62 corridors in the North West, the Midlands and Yorkshire, with some deliveries as far afield as Kent and Wales.
