New UK managing director at Sortera
Mark McCleery takes on new role to support major UK growth plans for Swedish recycling firm
SORTERA, one of the leading waste-management companies in Northern Europe, have appointed Mark McCleery as UK managing director of their British division. As part of a long-term strategic plan to expand into Europe’s major cities in construction waste collection and recycling, the Swedish business entered the UK sector in June 2022, with the acquisition of O’Donovan Waste Disposal, followed by the acquisition of GBN Services in June 2023.
Mark McCleery will focus on shaping and driving the strategic agenda for Sortera across the UK market, supported by the executive teams at O’Donovan Waste and GBN Services. He will work closely with Garry Hobson (md of GBN Services) and Jacqueline O’Donovan (md of O’Donovan Waste Disposal) to integrate the businesses, whilst maintaining the exacting standards in safety, innovation, sustainability, and service excellence that customers of both organizations have come to expect.
‘We are pleased to announce the arrival of Mark McCleery,’ said Sebastian Wessman, chief executive officer of Sortera AB. ‘This represents the next stage of our growth plans for the UK, as we seek to become one of the leading construction waste-management companies in London and the South East, focused on delivering exceptional service to our customers.’
‘As O'Donovan move to the next stage of our partnership with Sortera, we are delighted to welcome Mark McCleery,’ said Jacqueline O'Donovan. ‘Mark's experience will help guide Sortera to achieve their UK success. Our clients remain at the forefront of our priorities, and they can expect the same level of commitment and service excellence that we have always provided.’
