New recruit for new role at CPA
Peter Brown to join Construction Plant-hire Association as technical development manager
THE Construction Plant-hire Association (CPA) has announced the recruitment of Peter Brown to the newly created position of technical development manager, with effect from 4 April 2016.
Mr Brown will join the CPA from the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) where he gained experience in a wide range of roles, including training development, education, skills certification, and standard setting.
As Construction Plant Competence Scheme (CPCS) product manager at CITB, Mr Brown managed and developed products and services for the CPCS, which included implementing scheme rules and operating procedures, operator and instructor training programmes, test specifications, support material, and renewal criteria. He is also an experienced operator and demonstrator of plant and machinery.
CPA chief executive Colin Wood said: ‘I am pleased to welcome Peter to the CPA fold. Many of our members have known him for many years and are aware of his skills and experience. I believe that Peter will be a great asset to both the members and staff of the CPA.’
CPA director Kevin Minton added: ‘Peter has extensive experience and is well respected in the plant sector. I am very pleased that he has decided to join the CPA, and confident that he will make a valuable contribution to the association and its members.’
Mr Brown (pictured) said: ‘It’s a real privilege to be joining such a well-respected and established organization. The CPA plays a pivotal role within the plant hire sector and I am very much looking forward to being a part of that, by supporting the Association and its members, and by utilizing my skills and experience with my long association with technical support and training development.’
Mr Brown’s new role will involve supporting the CPA and its members with technical development which will include involvement in the Strategic Forum Plant Safety Group, special interest groups, training and competency strategies, and also liaising with government bodies such as BIS and HSE.
