New quarry tyre from Michelin
Michelin launch their latest earthmover tyre for the quarrying industry
MICHELIN are gearing up for the launch of their latest earthmover tyre, the XHA2, which, they say, will offer improved damage resistance, superior traction, greater longevity and enhanced retreadability over its predecessor.
Intended for use on loaders in quarries and cement plants, the XHA2 will be unveiled for the first time at the Intermat 2009 building and construction equipment trade show in Paris in April, and is expected to be available in replacement markets around the world from May 2009 onwards.
One of the fundamental qualities of the new tyre is its robustness, which has been achieved through: the incorporation of additional rubber in the tread; strengthening of the sidewalls with a special protective rib and anti-scrape shields; and the use of specially developed shock-absorbing rubber compounds. According to Michelin, the XHA2 will last up to 9% longer than its XHA predecessor.
In addition to its robustness and durability, Michelin say the XHA2 provides superior traction to help get the job done faster. The tread has been specially designed for improved self-cleaning to help reduce temporary losses of grip.
Moreover, the patented tread design reduces rolling resistance and, therefore, fuel consumption, while the tyre’s larger contact patch reduces the oscillations caused by heavy loads and frequent changes of direction.
Also on display on the Michelin stand at Intermat will be the X-Super Terrain AD for articulated dumptrucks and the X-Traction RD for rigid dumptrucks, both of which are being brought to market in new dimensions.
