New Komatsu WA600-6 gives productivity a lift
Komatsu have also announced the release of their brand new 53-tonne WA600-6 large wheel loader. Replacing the WA600-3, the new dash-6 version has been designed to maximize five key criteria: operator comfort, productivity, fuel efficiency, durability and safety.
The WA600-6 features a Komatsu SAA6D170E-5 engine, part of Komatsu’s ECOT3 range of low-emission, EU Stage IIIA-compliant engines. The engine is rated at 1,800 rev/min for quieter, more comfortable operation, and when combined with Komatsu’s ROPS/FOPS viscous cab mounts leads to noise levels of just 73dB(A) inside the cab.
The engine itself delivers 527hp (393kW) which, together with the Komatsu-designed large-capacity torque converter, is said to give the new loader best-in-class rimpull. Productivity is further enhanced due to a larger bucket capacity (6.4–7.0m3) and the highest boom-lifting force of any machine in this class. In addition, an optional longer boom (3,990mm) is available, allowing the WA600-6 to load bigger dumptrucks for improved machine matching.
For maximum fuel efficiency, the WA600-6 features a variable-displacement piston pump and closed-centre load-sensing system (CLSS) hydraulics. Together, these deliver the optimum hydraulic flow for the task at hand, thereby helping to reduce fuel wastage. Furthermore, the operator can select different engine power modes and gear ratios to match the application, ensuring that power is available when needed while maximizing fuel economy on lighter jobs.
The machine’s chassis, loader linkage and front and rear frames are reinforced for increased torsional rigidity. This extends the overhaul lifetime of the WA600-6, increases reliability and reduces maintenance costs.
For operator safety, an easy-access ladder with step light provides safe entry into the vehicle in all conditions, day or night.
