New distribution deal for Smiley Monroe
Company signs exclusive distribution agreement with Taiwanese conveyor belt manufacturers King HYC
SMILEY Monroe, Europe’s largest producer of customized ‘endless’ rubber conveyor belts, have been appointed as exclusive distribution partner for Ireland by Taiwanese firm King HYC.
One of Smiley Monroe’s key suppliers of conveyor belting, King HYC are among the world’s most advanced manufacturers of fabric rubber conveyor belts for a wide range of industries, including quarrying, mining and recycling.
Confirming the exclusive distribution partner agreement for Ireland (NI/ROI), the Taiwanese firm’s senior managers Alice Pang and Alan Li said Smiley Monroe had grown their business with King HYC over a number of years and were now their number one customer.
Meanwhile, following the economic downturn of 2008/09 and gradual recovery in 2010, this year Smiley Monroe are reporting steady growth in sales and profitability, despite operating in a climate of continuing raw material price increases.
Managing director Vaughan Monroe said the company’s current export strategy, which was set in motion in 2008, was paying dividends and looked likely to break last year’s sales record, bolstered by the rapid recovery of the world’s appetite for mobile crushing, screening and recycling equipment, particularly in the BRIC countries (Brazil, Russia, India and China).
He added that, in June 2011, with a workforce some 60% the size it was at the height of the construction boom in 2007/08, Smiley Monroe had achieved their highest output in the company’s 32-year history.
‘This result is a credit to our dynamic, highly motivated team – part of a company which has emerged from the downturn wiser and leaner, and whose efficiencies and growth have been realized through better material planning and forecasting, streamlined production systems, tight financial controls, and ongoing investment in marketing, training and the latest equipment,’ said Mr Monroe.
