New cold bonding adhesive for conveyor belts
Conti Secur Premium offers increased reliability and safety in conveyor technology
ACCORDING to ContiTech, their latest adhesive Conti Secur Premium – which is used for a variety of different cold bondings on conveyor belts – delivers improved reliability and safety despite simplified application. As it only has a single component instead of the usual two, it is ready for immediate use and provides a long service life.
‘In heavy industry applications, we normally use two-component adhesives,’ said Wolfgang Kerwel, application engineer at ContiTech Conveyor Belt Group. ‘Conti Secur Premium is an innovative new product that requires just one component.’
Mr Kerwel originally came up with the idea for the single-component adhesive and, subsequently, worked with adhesive specialists HB Fuller Company to develop a marketable product manufactured exclusively for ContiTech.
For users, Conti Secur Premium is based on polychloroprene and offers key advantages in metering, application and handling. As there is no need for a reinforcement solution, there is no risk of mistakes being made during metering. Also, every drop of the one-component adhesive can be used without it vulcanizing in the container within a short space of time, which makes the product particularly cost-effective.
Another advantage over two-component adhesives is reduced packaging volume, thanks to the omission of a reinforcement solution.
Conti Secur Premium can be used in a range of applications, including rubber-to-rubber bonds and rubber-to-metal bondings, as well as for cold splicing of fabric ply belts.
