New advanced hydraulic oil range
Shell Lubricants have launched the next generation of Shell Tellus hydraulic oils to meet the demands of engineering companies looking to reduce downtime and maximize productivity from their machinery.
Formulated in response to ongoing developments in modern fluid-power technology and the continually increasing pressures placed on hydraulic oils, next-generation Shell Tellus is designed to overcome problems such as corrosion, contamination, sludge build-up, filter blocking and increased wear, which result in major equipment failure, increased maintenance requirements and expensive downtime. The range of specialized, high-performance, mineral-oil-based fluids is suitable for a variety of mainly static hydraulic applications.
Shell Lubricants believe this new oil can extend maintenance intervals by up to 100%, lengthen the working life of customers’ equipment and production lines, significantly increase productivity, and ensure maximum return on lubricant investment. In a recent trial involving a plastic injection-moulding machine, which had traditionally suffered frequent pump failures and significantly high downtime, the introduction of the new oil and regular oil monitoring helped increase productivity by 73min a week, maintained the pump in good condition, and helped the company achieve a total saving of over £15,000 a year.
Next-generation Shell Tellus is designed to ensure a hydraulic system remains clean and performance is maintained, even under extreme-temperature operating conditions. Its very high thermal stability, together with superior oxidative stability for longer machine life and hydrolytic stability for enhanced protection from breakdown and acid corrosion, all help to minimize operating costs that may previously have been regarded as unavoidable. It has also been developed with additives that provide maximum protection at both high- and low-load condition extremes.
The range is available in all packages and viscosities and is augmented by Shell’s extensive range of support services, including Shell e-Quip. It complies with all major quality standards, including ISO and DIN, and has been researched, tested and developed with leading hydraulic OEMs.
