More Volvo’s for Advance Construction Scotland

Plant-hire company purchase five EC55Cs and six ECR88 Plus’ compact excavators

Blantyre-based Advance Construction Scotland have purchased five additional Volvo EC55C and six Volvo ECR88 Plus’ for their plant fleet, joining the initial batch of EC55’s purchased just over a year ago.

Seamus Shields, managing director of Advance Construction, commented: ‘We decided to purchase our first batch of Volvo EC55C’s based on their sound reputation and strong third party references; and it’s proved to be a good decision for us. The machines have performed faultlessly, they give a good return on the investment and not least have been welcomed by our machine operators, so as we needed to expand our fleet it wasn’t a difficult decision to opt for the Volvo product once again.’

In total, five EC55C’s and six ECR88 Plus compact excavators have been ordered, which are incremental to Advance Construction’s fleet of 75 excavators and continue to be the ideal size of machine – well adapted for working on the typical projects the company is involved in where space is a premium but yet good reach and all round performance are required. The larger 8.8-tonne machines are new to Advance Construction and were selected following a successful demonstration and trials carried out on one of the company’s current site development projects.

Mr Shields continued: ‘We found the ECR88 to be an gooall-rounder, with good dig depth and reach, the ability to load lorries with ease coupled to a high degree of flexibility and manoeuvrability.’

Powered by proven, direct-injection Volvo diesel engines the EC55C and the larger ECR88 Plus off ofer  high performance, fuel efficiency and low emissions/noise. High-performance tractive forces make levelling and backfilling quick and efficient work. The float blade provides precision finishing through a minimal, yet consistent amount of blade force and the heavy-duty travel pedals, comparable to those on heavier excavators, provide precision and an ease of operation. The machines feature Volvo’s industry-leading comfortable cab for less fatigue and more production. The ergonomically designed cab offers greater leg and foot room, making it one of the most spacious in its category.

Gareth Mollan, plant manager, looks after the day-to-day running of Advance Construction Scotland’s plant fleet of some 400 items mobile plant. He said: ‘Our initial batch of Volvo machines have been extremely reliable and have become a firm favourite with our operators. Equally the product is very user friendly when it comes to routine service and maintenance.’
