Miller International director honoured with MBE
Jacqui Miller recognized for services to industry and international trade in New Year Honours List
THE business achievements of Jacqui Miller, sales and marketing director of Miller International, have been recognized with the awarding of an MBE for ‘services to industry and international trade’ in the 2013 New Year’s Honours List.
Jacqui (pictured) is responsible for all group activities relating to sales and product distribution channels at the North East-based engineering firm, as well as setting and executing the company’s marketing strategy. She is also a member of the Miller International board and a shareholder alongside her two siblings.
Miller were established in 1978 by Jacqui’s elder brother Keith. Their brother Gary also joined in 1979 and she completed the sibling team in 1981. From humble beginnings as a mobile welding and repair service for quarries, mines and opencast coal sites, the business has grown into an internationally renowned manufacturer of buckets, quick couplers and other attachments for the earthmoving industry.
Jacqui is well known throughout the international construction and quarrying sectors, having been instrumental in introducing the quick-coupler concept to the UK market in the mid-1980s. More recently she has been encouraging and igniting the thought change required to develop and seed the Miller product range in the emerging markets of India and China, as well as developing other new markets, such as Australia, the Middle East and Russia.
Jacqui is a keen contributor to business growth in general and is passionate about prosperity within the North East and the UK. Her interest in assisting other SME businesses sees her actively partake in meetings with the UKTI and the CBI, as well as being a member of the Genesis Initiative, a forum established to advise the Government on current topics and challenges facing SME businesses.
Commenting on her recognition, a spokesperson for the company said: ‘This award is testimony to the hard work, drive, passion and dedication of Jacqui and the entire Miller team. It signifies a fantastic start to what is a landmark year as the company celebrate its 35th anniversary.’
