Midsummer success for Euro Auctions
Euro Auctions’ Midsummer Auction in Leeds sells 7,500 lots for a hammer total of £41.2 million
EURO Auctions, Europe’s largest and the world’s biggest privately-owned auction house, say their Midsummer Sale, held in Leeds from 31 July to 3 August, was a resounding success with more than 7,500 lots of heavy plant and machinery from 650 vendors across 25 countries around the globe achieving a hammer total of £41.2 million.
The sale saw participation from registered buyers across various regions, with 44% coming from the UK, 49% from Europe and the remainder from the rest of the world. The top buying countries by hammer total were the UK (£18.3 million), Republic of Ireland (£6.5 million), Spain (£2.1 million), Poland (£1.9 million), and Belgium (£1.9 million). Of the 1,500 buyers, 83% placed their bids online, reflecting the convenience and global reach of Euro Auctions’ robust internet sales platform.
‘We are thrilled with the outcome of our Midsummer Sale, which once again highlights Euro Auctions’ unparalleled ability to connect buyers and sellers from all corners of the globe,’ said Johnny Keys, general manager of Euro Auctions. ‘The strong participation, particularly from online bidders, and the high level of engagement from both new and returning vendors, underscores the effectiveness of our auction platform and the trust our clients place in us.’
Euro Auctions’ territory manager Matt Woods added: ‘Leeds has been consistently approaching 7,500-plus lots at each sale for over 12 months now, and it seems that our flagship auction has found its equilibrium, comfortably handling this volume of used and new machinery going over the ramp at each sale.
‘No sooner had the Leeds sale concluded and the yard been cleared out, than we began to backfill and bring in new kit for the next sale, just six weeks away; this is what Euro Auctions excel at. As a business, we have strong relationships with vendors, large consignors, and OEMs, forming a key part of their used machinery disposal strategy, we consistently achieve excellent market value for every single piece of kit that goes across the ramp on sale day.
‘All classes of machines sold well at this Leeds sale,’ continued Mr Woods, ‘however, it was the larger equipment that fetched the strongest prices. The 20-tonne-plus excavators, large articulated dumptrucks, dozers, graders, and anything suitable for large infrastructure projects were particularly in demand.
‘With OEMs and dealers offering less than favourable trade-in prices for used equipment, and Euro Auctions ability to gain true market value for machines, we are seeing more fresh, late, low-hour machines coming through our sales in the UK, Germany, Spain, and the Middle East. Our well-connected sales teams are securing stock at source, ensuring that wherever machinery is available, Euro Auctions is bringing it to one of our sales.’
