Company takes additional step to measure and report Scope 3 emissions, further strengthening its commitment

MANNOK have reaffirmed their public commitment to the Climate Action Pledge as they endeavour to work towards achieving a 35% reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions before 2030.

The Climate Action Pledge is part of Business Action on Climate, a collaborative campaign that puts Northern Ireland businesses at the forefront of action on the climate emergency. By signing the pledge, organizations can demonstrate their commitment and willingness to collaborate to address this critical issue, as part of their race to net zero.

Mannok signed up to the Climate Action Pledge in 2022, following the publication of their ambitious long-term sustainability strategy, Mannok 2030 Vision. The company is working toward a 35% absolute reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions by 2030. Compared with the 2020 baseline year, Mannok saw a reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions of 15.34% to the end of 2024.

In line with their pledge, Mannok submit annual emissions data for their entire group, not just their Northern Ireland operations. This year, using 2024 data, the company has taken the additional step of measuring and reporting its Scope 3 emissions. Carried out with the support of parent company Cimsa and their partners, this collaborative effort further strengthens Mannok’s commitment to achieve the targets set out in the Climate Action Pledge.

With the substantial addition of Scope 3 emissions, Mannok’s total reported footprint has increased by 17.61% compared with the baseline. This increase reflects an expanded scope of reporting rather than a rise in actual Scope 1 and 2 emissions.

Paul Monaghan, head of sustainability at Mannok, commented: ‘At Mannok, we fully recognize the crucial role we play in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and are deeply committed to achieving our targets. The Climate Action Pledge ensures transparency and highlights the importance of collective action to drive meaningful progress.’
