Singleton Birch to enhance lime production capabilities with significant investment at North Lincolnshire plant

SINGLETON Birch, one of the UK’s leading lime suppliers and a subsidiary of US-based Mississippi Lime Company (MLC), have announced major plans to invest in hydrated lime production capabilities at their Melton Ross facility.

The strategic initiative underscores MLC and Singleton Birch's commitment to being at the forefront of the UK lime industry, focusing on capacity expansion, operational reliability, and quality enhancement. The expansion is expected to be commissioned in early 2025.

This investment aligns with Singleton Birch’s and MLC's shared goal of operational excellence, ensuring a more agile supply chain and heightened customer satisfaction. By increasing capacity, flexibility, and reliability for lime production, Singleton Birch aim to meet the rising demand in both established and emerging markets, such as energy-from-waste, chemical processing, and battery minerals.

‘Our continuous investment in our facilities reflects our dedication to providing top-quality lime solutions,’ said Alistair Forman, managing director at Singleton Birch. ‘We are excited to enhance our production capabilities, which will enable us to grow as a leading supplier to better serve our existing customers and expand into new markets.’

The investment in the Melton Ross facility is part of a broader strategy by MLC and Singleton Birch to prioritize operational and asset investments. This approach is designed not only to boost production capacity but also to support sustainability efforts and improve employee facilities, ensuring a safe and efficient working environment.

‘In addition to enhancing our production capabilities, we are committed to making sustainable choices and improving our workplace for our employees,’ continued Mr Forman. ‘These investments demonstrate our dedication to driving reliability, sustainability and operational excellence.’

The acquisition of Singleton Birch by MLC in 2022 marked a significant milestone in the company's history, allowing Singleton Birch to leverage MLC's resources and expertise to further their mission. This latest investment is a testament to the ongoing support and shared vision between MLC and Singleton Birch.
