Longcliffe appoint new MD

PETER Gillatt has joined Derbyshire-based Longcliffe as group managing director with overall responsibility for all its businesses. Mr Gillatt, a chartered engineer, has held previous senior roles at Tarmac, Lafarge and Sita UK.

Commenting on his new role, he said: ‘It’s an honour to join Longcliffe as its reputation in the industry is fantastic. It is also still a family company with a family ethos and really excellent values.

‘These are undoubtedly challenging times and customers rightly have exacting standards in terms of product quality and delivery. By ensuring we keep those values and maintain high standards as well as embracing new ideas and developing new skills, the company is very well placed.

‘Longcliffe has long-term planning permission for both its quarry sites and we produce specialized products which are essential to many fields of manufacture. With the team we have in production, sales and distribution, along with continued capital investment, training and environmental commitment, I am very confident we can build on our great position in the market. We also have the ambition, opportunity and commitment to realize many future plans in all our businesses streams.’

Longcliffe chairman Robert Shields added: ‘Peter’s industry experience is second to none and covers all aspects from planning and production to sales and marketing. We are delighted to have him on board and see this as the start of a great new period of development in the success of Longcliffe.’
