Liebherr GB’s Biggleswade HQ about to get bigger
Ground broken as expansion of Liebherr-Great Britain’s Bedfordshire headquarters gets under way
FOLLOWING unavoidable COVID 19-related delays, ground has finally been broken as the expansion of Liebherr-Great Britain Ltd’s headquarters in Biggleswade officially gets under way.
Within the 15-acre site there are plans to house new state-of-the-art facilities which will include preparation workshops for the earthmoving, mobile crane and concrete divisions, a customer centre, as well as welfare for the engineering teams.
The new facility will adjoin the company’s existing 9-acre complex in its Bedfordshire home. An initial capital investment of £8 million will ensure that the company has both the resources and capacity to support a period of sustained growth in the UK.
The initial phase of construction works is expected to take up to six months, with projected completion scheduled for end of the first quarter of 2022.
Liebherr, who have handed responsibility for the works to PJ Hegarty and will work closely alongside them to ensure the project runs to time, say their own construction machinery will be in evidence during the early stages of the build.
The managing directors of Liebherr GB commented: ‘Even during these unprecedented times, we are delighted the development is under way; this will ensure we can continue to provide industry-leading service to our customers.’
