Landmark achievement by DUO on Aberdeen by-pass
Company processes 4 million tonnes of granite since start of operations in June 2015
THE materials processing division of DUO (Europe) plc has recently achieved a rock-processing landmark on the Aberdeen by-pass.
Operating at six locations along the new 58km long route, a fleet of Terex Powerscreen crushing and screening machines has processed 4 million tonnes of granite since the operation commenced in June 2015.
Luke Talbot, managing director of DUO (Europe) plc, commented: ‘Working as one with our client AWPR (Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route), we specifically built flexibility into the extensive programme, which has allowed us to successfully manage any production changes that have occurred.’
He added: ‘We are very pleased to have achieved this processing landmark with Terex Powerscreen equipment.’
The Balmedie to Tipperty section of the by-pass is scheduled to open by Spring 2017, with the remainder due for completion at the end of 2017. The new road will link the A90 from Stonehaven and Charleston, to the south of Aberdeen, with Blackdog to the north of the city.
When complete, the new by-pass is expected to carry more than 43,000 vehicles per day through its busiest sections.
