Lafarge Tarmac secure Rutland highways contract
Company secures five-year highway services contract with Rutland County Council
LAFARGE Tarmac, the UK’s leading sustainable building materials and construction solutions group, have been awarded a major five-year highways contract from Rutland County Council, worth up to £35 million.
Valued at £3.5 million per annum, the five-year contract, which has an option of a further five-year extension, commenced on 1 December 2013. It will see Lafarge Tarmac’s Contracting business deliver a wide range of highways services for the county, including resurfacing, reactive maintenance, gulley cleaning and winter maintenance.
The deal follows a string of wins for the company in 2013, including contracts with Norfolk County Council, Halton and Warrington Borough Councils, and Nottinghamshire County Council.
The latest contract builds on the company’s long-standing work in the East Midlands and its proven experience of delivering similar integrated highways contracts in the region.

Councillor Begy OBE, Leader of Rutland County Council, added: ‘The contract covers many areas that we know are extremely important to our local community. We’ll be working closely with Lafarge Tarmac to make sure that work is carried out to a high standard, within agreed timescales, and with minimum disruption to local residents.’
