New eco-friendly plant marks significant upgrade in equipment and operational efficiency

KENDALL Group, part of Aggregate Industries, have opened a brand-new ready-mixed concrete plant in Shoreham, West Sussex.

The new plant, situated at the Hove end of Shoreham Harbour, has replaced the existing facility at New Wharf, Brighton Road, and marks a significant upgrade in equipment and operational efficiency, to better serve Brighton and its neighbouring areas.

The upgrade involves the implementation of new, environmentally friendly equipment to replace outdated machinery, reflecting the company’s commitment to innovation and eco-friendliness.

The decision to relocate and upgrade the plant had been in the pipeline for more than three years, leading to the start of construction at the beginning of 2023.

The facility’s enhanced capabilities promise a significant boost in output potential and the ability to supply a broader spectrum of materials, offering a valuable advantage for the Brighton market.

The site’s modernization and increased capacity for material storage and various admixtures will allow for the future production of diversified concrete types, catering to a wide range of construction needs.

Oliver Wilshire, commercial manager at Aggregate Industries, said: ‘With this new and advanced ready-mixed concrete plant, we’ve significantly elevated our capacity and efficiency in producing and supplying concrete to Brighton and the surrounding areas.

‘The upgraded facility will not only double our concrete mixing speed, but also enable us to offer Cemfloor liquid screed product, positioning Aggregate Industries as the sole supplier for this product in Brighton.’

One of the standout features of the new plant is a new wharf facility which can accommodate large-scale aggregates supply via ship, thereby enhancing the overall efficiency and logistics of material transportation.

The use of neighbouring solar panels further highlights Aggregate Industries’ commitment to a sustainable future, whilst the provision of electric charging points for cars, a 13-cycle store, and a living room demonstrate the company’s dedication to employee well-being and convenience.
